Light is the fastest thing in the world, so we picked light to transmit digital data. But how can we possibly transmit data through light, doesn't it seem impossible?

Well, imagine that I told you to write 1 if i turn on my torch 🔦 and 0 when I turn it off. In that way I can transmit bits right

Now there's a new problem, what if there's is continuous 0s and 1s, remember, we can only turn our torch 🔦 on or off, if I want to transmit 1111 i can not turn off my torch because it represents 0.

Well, we can use a time frame, where if our torch 🔦 gets turn on for 1 second, we write 1 and if it's get continued keep writing 1s, it can also work with 0s isn't it?

That's how Fiber optic communication works, which uses light to transmit data through optical fibres, and become a widely used technology due to its high data transfer rates, low signal loss, and resistance to electromagnetic interference.
