Object Tracking From Defense Perspective
Date : 06.12.2025
Time: 03:00 PM-05:00 PM
speaker :
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sahani
(Scientist- G, ITR, Chandipur, Balasore, Odisha)
In the session, Mr. Sahani explained the basic ideas of object tracking in defense, a process used to detect, monitor, and analyze the movement of stationary as well as flying objects. He highlighted how modern defense systems rely heavily on accurate tracking to ensure national security. Students came to understand that object tracking is a combination of technology, data processing, and real-time decision-making.
He also explained the working principles of radar systems. Radar sends radio waves, receives the reflected signals, and calculates the object’s distance, speed, direction and play a crucial role in tracking the movement of moving objects.
Mr. Sahani also discussed how objects are detected and how targets are hit with accuracy. He described how radars continuously scan the sky and filter out unnecessary signals to focus on real threats. Once a target is identified, defense systems use advanced algorithms and guidance technologies such as radar homing, GPS, or infrared sensors to keep the missile locked on the target until impact. This ensures that the missile hits the intended object with high precision.
Overall, the seminar was extremely informative and beneficial for the students, researchers and members of the department. It helped them understand how concepts from computer science—such as algorithms, data analysis, signal processing, and real-time systems—are effectively used in defense technologies. The presence of experienced faculty and interactive discussions made the session even more valuable. The seminar not only widened the students’ knowledge but also inspired them to explore opportunities in the field of defense technology and research.
At the end of the seminar, Pinka Bhuta, an MCA 1st semester student, delivered a warm and graceful Vote of Thanks. He expressed his gratitude to the speaker, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sahani, for presenting an insightful session on Object Tracking from a Defense Perspective. He also thanked the respected faculty members, seniors and batchmates and acknowledged everyone who contributed to making the seminar successful. His short yet meaningful words added a pleasant conclusion to the event.
